Hello! This card was super fun to make and it is perfect for a masculine card. I used the brand new lighthouse2stamp stamp and die set from The Stamps of Life.
To make this card, first I stamped the image onto Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock using Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink. The stamped image does not have stripes so I decided to add my own. Using washi tape, I sectioned off portions of the image before starting to color. (In the image below, you can see the white washi tape on the image.)
After coloring the entire red section, I removed the washi tape, colored the gray section, and then colored the rest of the image. The image was colored using Copic and Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. The yellow windows were colored with the Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers in Moonlight. After the lighthouse was colored, I die cut the image using the lighthouse2stamp coordinating die.
Next, I worked on the sky background. Using Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers (Blue Topaz, Aquamarine, and Moonstone), I colored a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. I started with the darkest color, Blue Topaz, and drew lines across the paper. Then I moved to the medium color, Aquamarine, and drew lines directly underneath the Blue Topaz lines. Next I followed with the lightest color, Moonstone. After all the markers were on the paper, I used a wet paint brush and smoothed out the colors.
The blue water colored paper was cut down into a piece that could fit nicely on top of the card. I stamped the sentiment and birds onto the blue water colored paper and then adhered the lighthouse to the blue paper.
Next, I cut a piece of Strawberry cardstock that is just slightly larger than the blue paper and then adhered the blue paper to the Strawberry card stock. The Strawberry cardstock was adhered to the A2 card base using foam adhesive to add dimension. The A2 card base was cut with Gingersnap paper.
Next, using hot glue, I added shells to the bottom of the card. (I don’t recall the name of the company I purchased the shells from. They were at the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo Orlando in 2018. If I find the name, I’ll update the blog post.)
The inside of the card was stamped with a “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the lighthouse2stamp stamp from The Stamps of Life.
