For the background of my card, I used the Layered Graduation three layer stencil. The great thing about this stencil is that you can use it with ink colors that match the colors of your graduate’s school colors. My daughter is graduating high school this year so I knew immediately that I wanted the graduation caps to be the same color as her cap and gown. Therefore, for the Layer A stencil, which is the graduation caps, I used Fired Brick Distress Oxide ink since her graduation apparel matches this ink color the best.

For the Layer B stencil, which is the diploma, I used Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink. For the Layer C stencil, which is the tassel and the ribbon for the diploma, I used Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink. I also added some Brutus Monroe Alabaster Glitter Glaze over the tassel and ribbon to add a bit of sparkle.

I die cut a label from the Easter Circles die set and added a koala bear from the Koala Friends stamp set. I thought it would be cute to add a graduation cap and diploma to the koala bear so I fussy cut them from the stenciled background. For the sentiment, I used the Congrats Shadow die.

Card 2

For my second card, I used the Graduation Mug Additions die set. This die set coordinates with the Winter Mug die set that was previously released. The Graduation Mug Additions die set has lots of dies that you can use to decorate the mug for a graduation themed card. You can also use the dies as standalone dies. Some of the dies included in this set include a banner, diploma, graduation cap, numbers 0-9, star confetti, a star wand, and the words “grad” and “yay.” I love how the die set includes a set of numbers that fit perfectly on the mug to customize the graduation year.

I also brought in some of the Scrapbook.com Holographic Mirror Paper in gold and silver for the die cut pieces. For the background of my card, I used the Starry Background Stencil and Brutus Monroe Gold Glitter Glaze to add some more sparkle.
