Hello!
Today on my blog I have a flower Happy Birthday card with beautiful blue and yellow colors just in time for spring. For this card I used the Sizzix Card Flower & Circle Drop-ins from The Stamps of Life.
To begin, I knew I wanted to use a water color technique with Spectrum Sparkle markers. I used Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Smooth Paper and Spectrum Sparkle markers (Aquamarine, Blue Topaz, and Moonstone) and colored across the paper.
Using a paint brush with water, I ran the paint brush across the paper to blend out the colors.
Next, I put double sided adhesive on the back of the water colored paper. Using the flower die from the Sizzix Card Flower & Circle Drop-ins set, I die cut the water color paper.
Next, I die cut the card base from the Sizzix Card Flower & Circle Drop-ins with yellow card stock from my stash.
For the center “Happy Birthday” circle die cut, I cut a piece of white card stock to fit the size of the die cut, applied double sided adhesive to the back, and ran it through I die cut machine.
Before adhering the blue flower piece, I peeled away some of the loose flowers from the top left, top right, and bottom left corner of the die cut piece and put them aside for later use. I adhered the blue piece to the top of the yellow card base as shown.
I needed to have flower pieces to cover the three spaces where I removed the flower pieces (as shown above). I wanted to have the flowers pop up so I needed pieces without adhesive. I knew that I couldn’t use the ones that I previously removed from the blue front layer because they had adhesive on the back. Therefore, using the same steps described above, I water colored another piece of paper and ran it through the die cut machine again, only this time without double sided adhesive.
Using a glue dot, I placed the flower pieces in the empty flower spaces on the card front applied white circle embellishments to the middle of the flowers.
I adhered the “Happy Birthday” circle sentiment to the middle of the card front and tied a white ribbon to the top of the card.
Using the stitched rectangle die, I die cut a rectangle out of white card stock and adhered to the inside of the of the card. I added the flowers that had the adhesive on the back to the inside of the card and added white embellishments to the center.
