Birdhouse Cards | Pretty Pink Posh Blog Hop

Hello crafty friends.

It’s release time again over at Pretty Pink Posh. This month’s theme is birdhouses, graduation, and get well soon.  Today I’m sharing three cards that I made using the many birdhouse products from this release. The birdhouses can be used on cards for just about any occasion.

Card 1

I love shaker cards so for my first card, I used the Decorative Birdhouses dies to make a birdhouse shaker.

I die cut the birdhouse from pink cardstock and teal cardstock to create to multi-color look for the birdhouse.

The Stitched Birds die set pairs perfectly with the Decorative Birdhouses so I added two birds to the card. I also added flowers from the Spring Foliage dies to decorate the birdhouse. I used the Rainbow Shimmer Confetti for the shaker pieces inside of my birdhouse.

I wanted a subtle background so I used the Swiss Dots stencil with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink. For my sentiment, I used the A Little Birdie stamp set.

Card 2

I love using stamp sets to make cute scenes on my cards. For my second card, I used the Spring Birdhouses stamp set which includes three birdhouses, a branch, and several sentiments.

The A Little Birdie stamp set includes five birds that coordinate perfectly with the birdhouses and I added one bird to each birdhouse.

Birdhouse Slimline Card Pretty Pink PoshFor the background, I added some clouds using the Layered Clouds stencil. I added two branches from the Spring Birdhouses stamp set and added some flowers from the Spring Flower stamp set.

I colored my images using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens in the following colors — Peach Pink, Turquoise Green, May Green, Orange, Light Blue, Lemon Yellow, Mid Brown, and the Blender.

I added the largest Slimline Scallop Frame dies to the stenciled background and then added my stamped images and sentiment. Finally, I added the card layer to a slimline card base which measures 3 1/2” x 8 1/2”.

Card 3

For my next card, I used the Layered Birdhouses stencil. I used the following inks for the different layers of the stencil:
Layer A: Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink
Layer B: Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink
Layer C: Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink

Layered birdhouse stencil - Pretty Pink PoshI used a rectangle die to cut down the stencil and added it to a piece of pink cardstock and teal cardstock.

Birdhouse Stencil Card Pretty Pink Posh - Handmade card with Birds and BirdhousesI added the two die cut hearts from the Decorative Birdhouses dies from Card 1. I saved the heart die cuts from when I cut out the center of the birdhouses. I added two birds from the A Little Birdie stamp set and added the music notes and sentiment from the Just a Note stamp set.

  14. I love the birdhouse shaker! I think I might include bits of string. My birds all are gathering soft items to build their nests. In a quilting class my instructor said she puts her thread ends out in her yard for the birds. I thought that was a sweet idea! 😄
